Inflect worked with the Kebab Alliance and Labour Together to deliver an innovative beach BBQ in Brighton for Labour Party Conference.
The event was designed to raise the profile of the Alliance, which speaks on behalf of the 17,000 kebab restaurants in the UK. The industry supports more than 200,000 jobs and contributes over £2.8bn to the UK economy annually, but has been hit hard by Covid-19 and is facing an uncertain future with some of the relief measures introduced during the pandemic about to be withdrawn.
The BBQ attracted over 400 people and a host of the Shadow Cabinet who tried their behind the grill. It was so popular that we ran out of food twice, and in the end one of the local Brighton kebab restauranteurs caught fish straight out of the sea to keep the BBQ going!
Attending the BBQ and trying their hand behind the grill were:
– Steve Reed MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government
– Jim McMahon MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Transport
– Lucy Powell MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Housing
– Florence Eshalomi MP, Vauxhall
– Charlotte Nichols MP, Warrington North
– Barry Gardiner MP, Brent North
